PARAGUAS Group – Some of the best restaurants in Madrid!

“Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh, under my… PARAGUAS”

Yes, Paraguas means umbrella and it seems like it also means “good food” in Madrid. At least, you can be sure that you will not regret going to any of the Paragua’s Group restaurants.

Madrid is known by the quantity of very good restaurants. The ones from the Paraguas group are some of the best in the city and you have lots of variety to choose from: italian food, brazilian picaña, seafood…

I have personally been to all of the ones I’m recommending here and, trust me, they are good all around: food, service and environment. A total of 6 restaurants make up the group:  “El Paraguas” (2004), “Ten con Ten” (2011), “Ultramarinos Quintín” (2015), “Amazónico” (2016), “Numa Pompilio” (2017), “Aarde” (2019) and “Origen” (2019).

Here’s my three favorites:

  1. Ten Con Ten
  2. Amazónico
  3. Numa Pompilio

.

TEN CON TEN

As they say: “A classic always in style”. Since 2011 Ten Con Ten became a must go in the capital. You can go with the family and sit in the main room, or just go with friends and sit at their tables in the bar area or, if the weather is pleasant, you can also pick the outside. Honestly, I couldn’t pick which one is the best spot, even thought, now that I’m thinking, I have been more to the bar, I guess…

Here’s what you should try: Duck Spring Rolls, Black Truffled Semolina Risotto, Pedreiro Roasted Octopus, Panko Shrimps and for dessert: Apple Pie (DELICIOUS – try it with some Port Wine).

AMAZÓNICO

Amazónico opens its doors in the summer of 2016 and fills the heart of the Barrio de Salamanca, Madrid with freshness, aromas and sensations.” – Couldn’t agree more. The vibe here is distinct. It is incredibly vivid, live, happy… hard to describe.

The perfect option for a night out, for the restaurant and the street, Jorge Juan. Cannot go wrong. Dress your best outfit and let’s enjoy.

My recommendations: Samosa Rolls, Shrimp Curry, Picaña and for dessert the Pineapple with Coconut Ice Cream (yummy).

NUMA POMPILIO

Feeling like sitting outside for a white wine and some Italian food? Don’t think twice: Numa Pompilio! Their terrace is super charming, people are relaxed (fancy, but relaxed), food is delicious, what more can you ask for?

No in for terrace, want a more classic dinner? Reserve a table in the (very) bourgeois saloon. That monarchy, elegant vibe, it looks like a whole different restaurant, it’s impressive.

Here’s my favorite options: Burrata Salad, Vitello tonnato, Linguini with Pistachio pesto sauce, Mushroom Tagliolini prepared in a pecorino wheel (OH MY!!!) and the right choice of dessert here, no doubt, is the Tiramisu (I didn’t like tiramisu till I tried this one, can you imagine?).

I am telling you, no way you can regret going to any of those three choices. They are ranking the tops in my heart!
