I am sure lots of people my differ (let me know down below), but my personal opinion is that this is not the kind of trip that can be done with a really low budget. However, you do not need to be super rich to do it. I will share some thoughts, prices and options in this post, just keep scrolling…
Mykonos price range will vary a lot, like in any other travel, depending on your location and, mainly, the beach clubs you choose.
Here’s why I believe it is very challenging (might not even be worth) to do Mykonos on a super tight budget:
1 – Moving around the Island – like in any other Island, you will need to rent a car. Yes, you can take a bus in there. Does it work? Well… depend on how much you want to wait in the sun, how much you want to walk, and what places you want to go. So, basically, no, it is not a good way to get to know the Island.
For 6 days in August, you will probably pay something around €500.
For 6 days in September, you will probably pay something around €200.
2 – The Island is, let’s say, close during lower season, which means that during high season is the period they have to make money, and they know pretty well how to do it, beginning with accommodations. It is very hard to find any decent place, with good location, under 100€/night – which I find quite expensive. If you are going for a weekend, it will cost you 300€ right there (at least).
If you stay in a fairly good location, you will be paying, in September, more or less €70 – €90 a night or €450 – €550 for the 6 days we are considered for the car.
Up to here, we are summing up €650 – €1050 for those 6 days.
To that, we have to add the beach clubs, food, drinks, maybe a boat tour, etc…
3 – But beaches are for free, right? Yes and no. They are free, but the beach clubs are an awesome part of a trip to Mykonos and they can be very expensive. For a sunbed you might pay from 15€ to 50€ (or more) per person.
If you don’t want the sunbed you still can enter most of the beach clubs, but be aware that the drinks will be somehow expensive, ok?
It does not mean at all that you can not just go to the beaches and have a good time, you absolutely can. But I though it was important to mention it here.
